Krakow: Jewish Quarter and WWII – ENGLISH
Discover the Jewish Quarter of Krakow and learn about the events during WWII in English.
Tour description
Explore Krakow's Jewish Quarter and learn all about Jewish culture in Krakow. Additionally, experience how Jews had to spend their lives during the Second World War with our free walking tour in English — a journey through cobblestone streets, past (former) synagogues, iconic buildings, and centuries of fascinating history. This district, named Kazimierz, was central during the Second World War. During this tour, we also visit the Podgorze district, the place where all Jews were forced to relocate during the Second World War. Because Hitler wanted to preserve the Kazimierz district, it remained virtually untouched during the Second World War, making it one of the few that did so, and today it is one of the best-preserved districts in Europe. We end our tour in the Podgorze district at the famous monument with the empty, unused chairs. During the tour, you will visit highlights such as the Old Synagogue, the Remuh Synagogue, Schindler’s List film locations, the Jewish Ghetto of Krakow, Plac Nowy, the Ghetto Pharmacy, and more — accompanied by a local guide who really knows the city. And as a bonus after the tour, you will receive handy tools to discover Krakow like a local: a map of public restrooms, recommended dining spots, ATMs, and even our personal “Black List” — yes, those places we’d rather advise against 😉 Everything carefully curated to make your stay easier, tastier, and more authentic. Highlights: ♥ The Old Synagogue ♥ The Remuh Synagogue ♥ The Old Jewish Cemetery ♥ Schindler’s List film locations ♥ Plac Nowy ♥ The Ghetto Pharmacy ♥ Monument with the Empty Chairs Want to discover more?
