Discover the historic heart of Düsseldorf in English
During our essential guided tour of Düsseldorf, we’ll explore the charms of the historic district and discover why this city is one of Germany’s most important. Although Düsseldorf was reduced to ashes following the bombings of the Second World War, the city recovered and grew to become a major economic powerhouse for the country. Its historical heritage is impressive. During our tour, we’ll stroll through the Altstadt, the historic centre, which is full of historic sights and boasts a wealth of breweries, restaurants and cafés. Some of the tour’s highlights include the Königsallee, a shopping street renowned for its international luxury boutiques, and the Triton Fountain, one of the city’s most beloved landmarks. In addition, lovers of modern art can enjoy the K20 Museum, where masterpieces by artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Richter and Beuys are on display. Monument to the City’s Elevation: We look back on one of Düsseldorf’s most significant historical moments. This site commemorates the Battle of Worringen, as well as the ratification of the city’s statutes and the elevation of St Lambert’s Church. Old Town Hall: The Old Town Hall, situated on the iconic Marktplatz, is one of the city’s most important buildings. We’ll admire the Baroque façade, the statue of William II and the clock tower. You’ll discover all this and more during our free walking tour. And as an extra after the tour, you’ll receive handy tools to explore Düsseldorf like a local: a map of public toilets, recommended places to eat, cash machines and even our personal ‘Black List’ — yes, those places we’d rather advise against 😉 All carefully curated to make your stay easier, more enjoyable and more authentic. Highlights: ♥ Triton Fountain ♥ K20 Museum ♥ Stadterhebungsmonument (Monument to the City’s Elevation) ♥ Old Town Hall ♥ A historic Brauhaus (brewery)
