Free Tour Prague: WWII & Communism

Explore Prague's New Town and dig deeper into the history of the last century. Learn about the key events of the Second World War and the communist era.

Step out of medieval charm and dive into the dramatic history of modern Prague. On this free walking tour in English we explore the New Town, a district just as old and rich in history as the Old Town but often overlooked. We start at the Church of St. Ludmila, one of the city's most iconic landmarks, and walk through Wenceslas Square and past the National Museum, where you learn about St. Wenceslas and the spirit of Czech resistance. Along the way you also discover the provocative artworks of David Černý and unravel the gripping story behind Operation Anthropoid, the daring assassination of Nazi commander Reinhard Heydrich during the Second World War. The tour ends at the famous Dancing House, right next to Náplavka, one of the hippest spots along the river to relax afterwards. This experience is 100% in English and led by a passionate local guide who brings the city's recent history to life with depth and nuance. 🎁 Bonus: After the tour you receive exclusive extras to explore Prague like a local: → a map of public toilets → carefully selected food recommendations → locations of ATMs → and even our personal "Black List", those places we would rather advise against 😉 Everything designed to make your stay easier, tastier and more authentic.
