Glasgow George square

Service Description

For the free guided tour of Glasgow, we meet at 10:15 AM at the Lion Statue in George Square. From here, we also visit the statue of the Duke of Wellington, a perfect example of Scottish ironic humor. His statue stands a stone's throw from Buchanan Street, Glasgow's main shopping street. During the Scottish Enlightenment, Glasgow was a city of innovations and inventors, and during this tour, we discuss the most important ones. You will discover how the Industrial Revolution brought this metropolis to the top of the world and learn more about one of the great architects of the Victorian era, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Together, we discover hidden secrets along the banks of the River Clyde, the reason why this city exists at all, and walk past the old toll gate. Finally, you will hear the story of Saint Mungo, the city's patron saint, and his miracles. Afterwards, we descend to the "Merchant City" to discover Glasgow's secret past. After two hours of sightseeing, the tour ends at Glasgow Cross, the heart of medieval Glasgow. And as an extra after the tour, you’ll receive handy tools to discover Glasgow like a local: tips for activities, food recommendations, and even our personal “Black List” — yes, those places we’d rather advise against 😉 Everything carefully curated to make your stay easier, tastier, and more authentic. Highlights: ♥ History of Scotland and Glasgow ♥ Social and political history ♥ George Square ♥ Charles Rennie Mackintosh ♥ Industrial Revolution ♥ Glaswegian ♥ Glasgow Merkat Cross ♥ Heart of Medieval Glasgow ♥ Merchant City Above all, we want to ensure that you have a professional, elegant, and always entertaining experience that you will remember for the rest of your life!
